miraDry uses microwave energy in a specially designed device to target and eliminate sweat and odour glands from the armpits.
Am I suitable for miraDry?
As miraDry is a non-surgical procedure, most people are suitable for the treatment. However, we will invite you for a no obligation consultation beforehand, so we can discuss your individual requirements, check your medical history and ascertain whether miraDry will be suitable for your needs.
What happens during a miraDry treatment?
Prior to the treatment, your underarms will be numbed with a local anaesthesia. The practitioner will then place the handpiece on to the affected area, lining it up with a temporary guide, to ensure accuracy of treatment. A vacuum suction in the handpiece will bring the sweat glands closer to the skin’s surface. Thermal energy is then delivered into the skin, eliminating the sweat glands. At the same time, a cooling system will protect the skin to minimise any discomfort.
Don’t I need to sweat to be healthy?
As we have over 2 million sweat glands throughout the body and only 2% are located within the underarm area. This means that you will still be able to naturally perspire when your body needs to, in order to regulate a healthy body temperature.
As a local anaesthetic is used to perform the miraDry treatment, you will experience very little discomfort. A numbing cream can also be used beforehand to ease any further discomfort if you are particularly sensitive.
What results can I expect?
Most patients can expect a dramatic and permanent reduction in their underarm sweat with miraDry. In a recent clinical trial, the average underarm sweat reduction was 82 percent. Many patients will experience a noticeable difference immediately after treatment. However, results can vary from patient to patient.
miraDry is an extremely safe and highly-effective treatment. It has been performed on thousands of patients, worldwide and has received FDA approval for its efficacy and safety.
